The Science Behind Our Work

Our approach is built on a solid foundation of research, integrating evidence-based practices from applied musicology and cognitive behavioral psychology to enhance well-being through two mechanisms of change:

#1. Arts-based Experiential Learning

Intellectualizing wellness only takes us so far. Our programs are based on the philosophy that immersing in art and creativity can profoundly shift how individuals perceive and engage with their lived experiences.

Music, in particular, stimulates the brain in unique ways that catalyze new insights and perspectives. Drawing from a rich array of scientific arts-based intervention studies—including those focused on embodied cognition, aesthetic emotions, and music therapy—we engage with music to explore individual and group attitudes, behaviors, and intelligence.

It was so refreshing to listen to music… because sometimes that’s enough.

#2. Mindfulness and Values

Psychological flexibility—or the ability to adapt behaviors that align with personal values—plays a crucial role in all our programs for improving overall well-being and life/work effectiveness. We pull from a spectrum of research in applied psychology and behavioral sciences, including studies on Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) and other third-wave cognitive behavioral strategies that look at cultivating mindfulness and resilience as a skill set.

I learned how to be mindful about my values and connect them with actions that are meaningful to me.
