Constant performance pressure, packed schedules, and identity intertwined with sport can often crowd out the moments where teams can connect and remember how they want to show up. Our arts-based sessions gives athletes a creative experience to pause from the demands of competition, strengthen relationships across the roster, and practice leadership skills that serve them long after their playing days end.

Hiram College’s SAAC wanted mental health programming for student-athletes across all sports that would break down isolation, build peer support networks, and equip athletes with skills for managing competitive pressure and supporting teammates through challenges.
Solution
We brought together 300 student-athletes from every sport on campus for a music-driven session that created space for honest dialogue about the pressures they face. Athletes listened to curated songs that opened up conversations about competition, identity, and what it actually means to have each other’s backs when things get hard. In addition, team captains and leaders practiced simple facilitation techniques for leading meaningful check-ins with their own teams throughout the season.
Results
- 94% gained new perspectives on how to support themselves and teammates when navigating difficult experiences.
- 85% felt more equipped to lead conversations about mental resilience within their sport.
